3LCE, now called Etudes anglophones, Semester 5

 

Third year students of English have four modules (UE, unités d'enseignement), each worth 200 or 250 points.  Three modules are obligatory; the fourth can be a) more of module 3 b) early English of c) a class from outside the English department.

 

The UE are as follows:

 

UE1      Linguistics and translation (200 points)

UE2      Literature and civilisation, oral language (250 points)

UE3      Culture, text and image (200 points)

UE4      General culture or early English (200 points)

 

Oral English appears in UE2.  This module is subdivided into 2 units (UF, unités de formation): UF1, which is literature, and UF2, which is civilisation and oral English. 

 

The breakdown is as follows:

 

UE2      Literature and civilisation; oral language   (250 points total)

            UF1      Literature           100 points

            UF2      Civilisation         100 points

                        Oral English        50 points

 

Our 50 points are divided as follows :

            TPO continuous assessment plus intonation        20 points

            Oral exam                                                         30 points

 

If Intonation is worth 10 points, then TPO gets 10, with the work going towards the oral exam at the end of the semester.
