Province: A region governed
as an
administrative or political unit of a country
·
Territory: a region created by
Federal
Law.
·
What is the
difference between
the two?
Territories have a bit less power than the provinces. The biggest
difference is
that the provinces get to vote on changes to the constitution but the
territories do not.
·
Mall: Shopping Centre
·
Department Stores: Big stores that sell
everything
like Galleries Lafayette.
·
Roller-Coaster:
A steep, sharply curving elevated railway
with small open passenger cars that is operated at high speeds as a
ride,
especially in an amusement park.
·
Hockey Arena: Where hockey is
played; an ice
rink.
·
·
Construction Boom: A period when
construction was
very popular.
·
Being home to….: When a place
hosts these
certain teams or things. Example: SkyDome is home to the Toronto Blue
Jays
Baseball team.

Barrel: A large cylindrical
container,
usually made of staves (wood) bound together with hoops, with a flat
top and
bottom of equal diameter.

Winery/Wineries:
An establishment at which wine is made.
·
Restore:
To
bring back to an original condition: restore a building.
·
Stadium: A large, usually
open structure
for sports events with tiered seating for spectators.
Maple Syrup Related Words:
·
Sap: The watery fluid
that
circulates through a plant (tree), carrying food and other substances
to the
various tissues.
·
Maple Trees: Sugar Maples are the
trees used
to make Maple Syrup
·
Sugar Bush: Where Maple Syrup is
made.
·
Sap Buckets: The old fashioned
way to
collect tree sap. A cylindrical vessel used for holding or carrying
liquids or
solids; a pail.
·
a Tap: A valve and spout
used to
regulate delivery of sap from the Maple Trees.
·
Plastic Tubing: A hollow cylinder,
especially
one that conveys a fluid.
·
To Evaporate: Lose or cause to
lose liquid by
vaporization leaving a more concentrated residue, Maple Syrup!
