University calendar

Week-by-week calendar is in tools.

Provisional calendar for the academic year 2004-5

These dates are 90% sure; last-minute changes can and do occur, but you can go ahead and buy plane tickets.   Your presence is of course required during all teaching weeks and at exam time; we can tolerate the occasional absence on a Friday before or Monday after a break if it's going to halve the cost of your travel, but bear in mind your fellow lecteurs will have to take up the slack . . .

A brief lexicon:

break: students and teachers are on holiday; nothing will be expected of you

revision week: ditto, unless you are behind on preparation for classes or exams

exams: you will be required for written and oral exams (invigilating, examining, grading) on specific dates which are not set until just before the exam period, so you can't leave town, but you will have time off
