Provisional calendar for the academic year 2004-5 These dates are 90% sure; last-minute changes can and do occur, but you can go ahead and buy plane tickets. Your presence is of course required during all teaching weeks and at exam time; we can tolerate the occasional absence on a Friday before or Monday after a break if it's going to halve the cost of your travel, but bear in mind your fellow lecteurs will have to take up the slack . . . A brief lexicon: break: students and teachers are on holiday; nothing will be expected of you revision week: ditto, unless you are behind on preparation for classes or exams exams: you will be required for written and oral exams (invigilating, examining, grading) on specific dates which are not set until just before the exam period, so you can't leave town, but you will have time off September resit exams: Tues 7 Sept - Sat 25 Sept 2004 First semester: Mon 11 (18) October 2004 - Sat 17 January 2005(12 weeks) Christmas break: Sat 18 December - Mon 3 January (classes start Mon morning) Revision week: Mon 17 - Sat 22 January 2005 Exams: Mon 24 January - Sat 5 February 2005 Winter break: Sat 5 Feb - Sat 12 Feb Second semester: Mon 14 Feb - Sat 14 May 2005 Spring break: Sat 9 April - Sun 17 April Revision week: Mon 16 - Sun 22 May Exams: Mon 23 May - 4 June (Sept resits: Wed 7 Sept - 24 Sept 2005)
