Listening evaluation

Listening comprehension is assessed by an end-of-semester written exam.

Exams take place in the language laboratory and last one hour.

Students listen to a number of short recordings, similar in theme to those studied in class, and which are played one or two times.

In order to test both global comprehension and understanding of detail, questions are of varied type: fill-in-the-blanks, multiple choice, and short answer.

Students are graded mainly on their comprehension, with some points deducted for errors in expression and to correct for guessing in multiple choice sections.
