2LEA
Oral English classes for second year LEA students include listening comprehension and speaking classes. Students also study civilisation and translation for a total of 5 hours of English per week. They have five hours of another language (typically Spanish, Portuguese, or German) but the main focus of their degree is business, including core courses in economics, law, and management. Oral English programme Second year students have two hours of oral English per week, both with the lecteurs.
Class activities COMP Comprehension classes take place in ordinary classrooms. Students work on listening exercises using worksheets with prelistening, listening, andpostlistening exercises; teachers have answer sheets and transcripts. TPO Speaking classes take place in an ordinary classroom. Speaking activities are organised in pairs and groups to encourage participation, and students give presentations which are important for their continuous assessment grade. Timetable and teachers All groups meet on Monday or Friday and each lecteur has the same group for COMP and TPO. Only four teachers are involved, and each has two groups. 2LEA COMP 1a lun 11 AS 2LEA TPO 1a lun 13 AS 2LEA COMP 1b lun 11 DF 2LEA TPO 1b lun 13 DF 2LEA COMP 2a lun 14 WW 2LEA TPO 2a lun 15 WW 2LEA COMP 2b lun 14 GO 2LEA TPO 2b lun 15 GO 2LEA COMP 3a ven 10 WW 2LEA TPO 3a ven 12 WW 2LEA COMP 3b ven 10 GO 2LEA TPO 3b ven 12 GO 2LEA COMP 4a ven 8 AS 2LEA TPO 4a ven 10 AS 2LEA COMP 4b ven 8 DF 2LEA TPO 4b ven 10 DF Evaluation Listening: Comprehension exam composed by coordinator with help from teachers. Speaking: Continuous assessment mark based on proficiency and participation. To do This class will be coordinated by Ger. In recent years, this class has been run in a way similar to first year LEA and LCE classes - comprehension on general topics, and TPO based on student presentations. In a more dark and distant past, however, an effort was made to link the oral classes to the students' civilisation lectures, which focus on British history in the first semester and American in the second. It might be time to return to this format, where comprehension and TPO topics are related to the semester's civilisation syllabus; you will need a syllabus from the civilisation lecturer. Semester 1. British postwar history. Lecturer: Didier Revest. didier.revest@wanadoo.fr Semester 2. American postwar history. Lecturer: Anne Debray. 1. Print and copy last year's materials from the archives in Shared Documents on the computer in 102. Use these as a guide for preparing this year's classes. 2. COMP a) Materials. Find new materials for this semester. Your criteria include:
c) Administration. Print up your student pack and teacher pack for Shona to check. Get photocopies made. Make your master CD and tapes for your teachers. Add your syllabus to the Oral English website. d) Coordination. Plan and conduct an introductory meeting with your teachers and Shona to make sure everyone understands the class goals, format, syllabus, materials, and evaluation procedures. e) Evaluation. Record exam pieces and organise the transcription and writing of exercises with your teachers. TPO Revise last year's syllabus to complement your Comprehension syllabus.
