3LCE
Oral English classes for third year English specialists figure in a new teaching unit (UE, for unité d'enseignement) in a revised English curriculum which starts this year. As in the first two years of the LCE programme, students have other classes in literature, civilisation, linguistics and translation. Some of these classes are options (e.g., history of art, cinema, early English, or professional translation). Here's an outline of the new programme, now with the snappy title: Etudes anglophones, semestre 5. Oral English programme Third year students have two hours of oral English per week:
Class activities TPO Speaking classes take place in an ordinary classroom. Speaking activities are organised in pairs and groups to encourage participation, and a short period is set aside each week for student-led activities. Students also complete a listening/speaking portfolio of activities completed outside class time which forms the basis of the end-of-semester oral exam. Timetable and teachers All groups meet on Thursday afternoon for TPO and 1-on-1 and each lecteur has the same group for both classes.
